Landmark

SO IT looks like once again the Vale of Glamorgan Council are going to take away another landmark from the people of Barry - the Knap pool.

Demolition is on the cards depriving the people of the town once again of another tourist attraction and all for the sake of more "luxury" houses.

It is absolutely scandalous. How our council are going to get away with it again?

How can they do this to us Barrians?

The pool has been used by generations for years and was once renowned throughout South Wales. Why can't they save the pool?

Why are the council going to take away another part of our heritage? It seems that the Vale council have got housing on the brain and it isn't affordable housing.

They have a duty to look after our best interests and leisure and tourism is one of them.

There are open pools all over the country and they are not closing - so why is Barry's much-loved pool?

This is a sad day for the Vale - the people of Barry are losing out again, like everything else in the town, it is forced into rack and ruin hopefully to be forgotten!

I am sure that if you put a referendum to the townsfolk asking if they were prepared to put up taxes to save the pool - they would!

Why can't the Vale hand the pool over to the town council or does housing command a bigger priority?
