Objection

WITH reference to planning application 02/01413/ful: The Water's Edge. Plans have been submitted to the VOGC to replace the existing building with 27 flats - with one block varying in height from three to six blocks.

The Knap Community Acton Group wishes to make known its very strong opposition to the above plan. Our objections are upon the following grounds:

Height - six floors; over development/high density; lack of consultation, within a marine conservation area; poor quality design; inadequate car parking; increased traffic.

We worked hard to ensure that The Pebbles development was reduced from four and a half to two storeys.

We believe that the proposed development would be completely out of place with the levels of the other buildings.

As people have remarked this weekend, the Knap is fast becoming a concrete jungle. We urge VOGC to safeguard the area and ensure that this does not happen.

We understand that the site is privately owned, but we do expect that this very prestigious area, perhaps even more prestigious than the Pebbles, is developed on an appropriate scale and enhances not detracts from the area.

C Oxenham (Mrs) Secretary Knap Citizen's Action Group (KCAG)
