Cinema review 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'

AS HARRY Potter returns to the big screen in his latest outing, marketing, merchandising and promotion is in your face 24/7.

While that may be enough to put you off the film, it's the actual film that may possibly make you feel annoyed.

Just before Harry Potter goes back to Hogwarts for another year, he is visited by Dobby, a little elf who warns him not to go back.

But Harry ignores Dobby and returns anyway to meet back up with his friends, Ron and Hermione.

While there, mysterious happenings occur as some students are found in dramatic states of shock.

Harry learns that it has something to do with The Chamber of Secrets, so he goes off to investigate.

As you may remember, I was no fan at all of the first Harry Potter film and to tell you the truth I'm no fan of Harry Potter in general.

But the first film did have a strong sense of atmosphere and it seemed to please the world anyway, so it pretty much did its job well.

Now this sequel is supposed to be better, but I think it's terrible.

If it works for it's target audience, then the film cannot be criticised at all, and this film seems to work too.

But in all true honesty, I found this to be one of the most boring films I have ever had to sit through!

Scene after scene just seems like an excuse to sell toys and computer games, and the many pointless scenes drag the film out which must make some kids bored too.

It begins with a strong opening and ends pretty strongly too; there is also a superb scene involving giant spiders.

But it's the rest of this long, drawn out film that made it painfully boring for me to watch.

I found Daniel Radcliff to be awful in the first film, but he has improved a great deal in this outing, though he still appears to be wooden.

The same can be said for Emma Watson too.

The only real decent child actor here appears to be Rupert Grint as Ron because it's his natural charisma that makes the film worth watching.

This effort has all the set pieces to make it a decent film and the proof of the pudding will be in the watching. But what can I say?

I hate it! Simple as that.
