ARRY YMCA has scooped a £2,000 cash boost to help them offer even more facilities at their popular Court Road base.
The management team will receive the money from the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust following an application for funding.
Since the group took over in 1997, they have seen the YMCA soar in popularity, leaving them constantly battling to provide extra facilities.
Centre co-ordinator Anthea Clements explained: "A waiting list currently exists of people wanting to use the facility for dance classes, martial arts sessions and exercise and fitness sessions.
"But we needed to buy valuable wall mirrors before we could help them out - the millennium money will be used for this."
Office co-ordinator, Bronwen Brookes added that the new mirrors would help support over 400 boys and girls on the waiting lists, as well as encouraging an older generation to partake in sporting activity.
Speaking at special cheque presentation chairman Linda Owen said: "We are delighted with the grant.
The mirrors have been ordered and we are expecting them to be fitted in January of next year.
"The grant application form was so simple to complete and the process of application so easy.
We hope to encourage other applicants in similar situations to consider applying."
In total the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust has awarded 27 organisations in Wales funding to 'activate' projects associated with sport, the arts, culture and the environment.
Chairman Tom Jones told the News: "I speak on behalf of all of the trustees when I say that we were thrilled and overwhelmed by the quality of the grant applications submitted for the recent activate awards.
"The projects varied from the forming of national dance workshops to the purchasing of musical instruments for community groups.
"It was a pleasure to be giving to organisations from every corner of Wales."
Issued on a local, regional and national level the 'Activate' grant aims to help finance new or existing projects in Wales.
