Good deed

I would like to reply to a letter regarding the policing of irresponsible dog owners who allow their dogs to soil the fine streets of our town.

Until recently I was one of these so called citizens of Barry. While walking my dog Charlie in Romilly park, I allowed him to relieve the contents of his bowels on the public footpath, it was 7.30am in the morning and no one was going to see me (so I thought).

But out of nowhere sprang this young man of about 30-years-old who gave me the biggest and loudest telling off I have ever had. He threatened to make a citizens arrest and proceeded to call the police on a cell phone, to my luck he got no answer.

He ordered me to clean the mess up with some litter nearby and dispose of it properly, which I did.

When I look back at the incident (approximately six weeks ago) I admit that I was scared stiff (I am 86-years-old) but he was correct in his actions, and I, for one, will never let Charlie soil the streets or footpaths of our good town of Barry again.

If the 30-something young man is reading this, a big thank you for putting me straight.
