James and Nicky win medal haul in Italy

JAMES MORGAN, aged 14, and Nicky Limbrick (16), recently returned from Pisa, Italy, where they represented Wales at the WKA (World Kick Boxing and Karate Association) World Championships.

Both students returned to Barry with medals; Nicky took the silver medal in the points sparring division after beating fighters from Italy, Canada and England, and losing out in a very close final to the other Canadian fighter.

Nicky went on to pick up a bronze medal in continuous sparring, beating Turkish and Greek fighters then losing out to the Irish champion in the semi-finals.

James Morgan also fought in continuous sparring and was very unlucky to face the English champion in the semi-finals after beating two English fighters in early rounds to pick up the bronze medal.

Both fighters are training hard as they travel to Denmark in November to represent Great Britain in the WUMA Free Style World Championships.

Anybody wishing to train in Tae Kwon Do can call in at the YMCA on Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm, Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm or Saturdays 5pm to 8pm, or call club instructor Mr Colin Palfrey on Barry 406971.
