Oh yes 'Chloe's got what it takes'

A BARRY school girl has sung her way on to the small screen.

Eleven-year-old Chloe Cooke, of Springfield Rise, is to appear on Owain Money's Just Up Your Street.

The Bryn Hafren pupil fought through an audition on October 5 to be one of just five young hopefuls to appear on the hit Welsh show.

The youngster is also hard at work in the recording studio after being approached by an executive from DA Records at a competition in January.

Held at the Hanover Hotel in Cardiff, Chloe sang in the Music Wales contest. Afterwards, one of the judges spoke to her mum Jane and dad Philip, asking them if he could sign her to his label.

Proud Jane said: "Chloe is a shy girl, but when she gets on stage she sparkles. She's always singing, even when she was a small child she always sang. And her voice is incredibly mature for someone so young. To say she's excited about this is an understatement. She's thrilled."

Recording for Just Up Your Street begins on November 7.

Chloe was interviewed by Jessica Garlick, who found fame after appearing on Popstars, during the audition and after she found out she had been chosen to appear on the show, which will air after Christmas.

Mum Jane added: "Chloe has just started secondary school, and even though she's busy with her music she is still maintaining her work. In fact last week, she got 100 percent in a French test. I know she wants to take this forward as her career and even though I may be biased, I think she has what it takes. Her poetry is so touching and she's learning the keyboard in school. So I really can see her going right to the top."
