Bangor well beaten

Barry Town 3 BANGOR CITY 0

BARRY Town comprehensively dismissed North Wales outfit Bangor City by 3 goals to nil at Jenner Park last Saturday.

When Port Talbot beat Llanelli last Friday night they headed the table by one point, displacing Barry's opponents.

Victory the following day saw Barry move up to third position with Port Talbot staying top on 20 points. Barry and Bangor are on 19 points, but Peter Davenport's men have a better goal average and take second place.

The result was a resounding success for Barry. They were always in control and dominated the match.

Scott Morgan and Lee Jarman were outstanding at the heart of the defence whilst Tom Ramasut's trickery was far too much for the North Walians.

Two goals for Ramasut capped his outstanding performance to make him man of the match though to be fair everyone played well in a first-class team display.

Bangor defended well in a slightly disappointing first half with Barry having 70 per cent of the play but first half chances were minimal.

Barry's passing game though was first class and the best move of the match set up Kennedy's opening goal.

Bangor were a well beaten side in the end and their noisy supporters went very quiet as Barry fired in the goals.

For the opening 15 minutes, play was fairly even, though Bangor looked very wary, preferring to pack their defence.

Richard Kennedy broke the deadlock on 52 minutes with a 25 yard strike after some tremendous interplay carved up the Bangor defence.

Kennedy's shot hit the back of the net like a rocket, and Priestley could only stand and watch.

Chris Moore came close with an overhead kick, but it was nearly all Barry and Jon French had a great run and shot into the side netting.

Ramasut was Barry's hero when he picked up a ball on the right, ghosted past two defenders and curled a great shot into the net.

Jamie Moralee, who replaced Kenny Brown at the interval, went off injured after only 20 minutes on the pitch, but put in some great tackles before he went off for Dave Toomey.

With three minutes to go Bangor looked very tired. Lawrence Davies slipped an easy ball through to Ramasut who netted easily to wrap things up.

Bangor were a well beaten side and this was possibly Barry's best performance of the season. It was championship form and whilst there are plenty of good sides in the Welsh Premier, the league lies in Barry's hands.

Kenny Brown has moulded together a very good side of talented footballers and given commitment, desire and character they should once again claim some silverware.

This Saturday Barry travel to Rhyl for a fixture which they lost 3-1 last season. Rhyl are currently ninth but on their day they are a formidable outfit and Barry will have to be at their professional best to claim the three points.

Next Tuesday Caersws are the visitors in a league match. The players will not need reminding that despite dominating the game last season Caersws won 3-0.

Barry only lost three matches last season and the next two games are against those sides, the other defeat being at home to Connah's Quay.

Kick off next Tuesday is 7.30pm whilst the bus leaves at 8.30am for Rhyl next Saturday.

The following Saturday Barry travel to Carmarthen when the bus will leave at 12 noon. Ring Tim Johnson on 734050 to book your seats for both trips.

The cost for Rhyl is £10 adults, £5 for accompanied children. The cost for Carmarthen is £6 for adults, £4 children. Away trips are being well supported so it is important to book early for both trips.
