At the recent Associated Board Royal College of Music, speech and drama examinations, the following children were successful: Carol Hopgood, Grade 1, and David Lambert, Grade II. They are pupils of Miss Alice Burrows, in Colcot Road.
Mr R Osborne Helier, of Holton Road, has been elected chairman of the Cardiff section of the South Wales and Mon British Dental Association.
The Rev E Thomas, of Penuel Chapel, addressed the OAP Branch (Suburb) meeting on Monday. His talk was entitled 'Some Leaves From a Spectators Notebook'.
After spending three years in the Far East, including 23 months cruising in the turbulent waters around Korea, Barrie Cahill, of the Royal Marines, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J Cahill, of the Drill Hall Barry, returned home last week to start three months leave.
The monthly meeting of the Barry Townswomen's Guild was held on Monday, Mrs E Joy Davies presiding.

A Barry jazz band has qualified for the finals of the Welsh Championships, to be held this Saturday, October 15, at Ebbw Vale. The Barry Blue Royals, which entered its first competition on May 29, this year, has qualified in the novice section.
A public clock, a bequest from the late Mrs B C Harris, should be located between 6 and 7 Esplanade Buildings, Barry Island, if permission is granted, the Vale council agreed at a meeting on Monday week.
The British Transport Docks Board has appointed Mr Alfred Pidduck as Docks Manager, Newport, to succeed Mr J Vernon Snow, MBE, who will be retiring at the end of the year, after more than 42 years with the Docks Board and its predecessors.
What good is a £1,000 cheque endorsed by "The Goodies"? Some bank managers may, quite rightly, be very wary of anything as large as the piece of paper in the picture, that was signed by the well known team of television pranksters. But this was one cheque that did not bounce.
On Monday week, at the Vale of Glamorgan Band rehearsal, the lady supporters, led by the mayoress of Barry, Mrs Brenda Adams, handed a cheque for £145.67 to the treasurer, Mr David Murray.
