Bad move

MEMBERS of Barry Town Council could not be more wrong. Opposition to their renaming of Barry's Hall of Remembrance will not subside just because they choose to ignore printed reactions of present and past townspeople (letters to the editor over recent weeks).

We are all familiar with the circumstances under which the Memorial Hall was built by grateful inhabitants and such origins can never be forgotten.

The name of my great-grandfather figures among those on the magnificent World War 1 roll of honour.

Town councillors have been set a poor example by their Vale of Glamorgan counterparts who show massive indifference to the crumbling edifice that was once Cold Knap's pride and joy, the outdoor swimming pool.

Members of both councils will have cause to regret their laissez faire attitudes when voters reach the ballot box.
