BARRY'S Holm View complex has hosted a second successful girls under-11 football fun centre, and certificates were presented by Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet Member (Economic Development and Leisure) Cllr Michael Harvey (pictured).
Sponsored by McDonald's, the 10 week course was run in conjunction with the Vale of Glamorgan Council sports development unit and the Football Association of Wales.
The course focused on technical work, with development coaching and fun games, while all participants received balls, certificates and McDonald's meal vouchers. There were also prizes for the most improved player and the individual with best shooting skills.
A result of the initiative has been the formation of a Sea View mini team, which, with 10 members already, has been aided by Sportlot Community Chest funding. Vale football development officer Ryland Morgans said: "The girls, who really enjoyed themselves, played some fantastic football. They worked well in teams and were really enthusiastic.
"I hope they continue to play football in the future."
Further information about girls' soccer initiatives can be obtained from Ryland on 01446 704729 or 078121 31739.
