Open route

THE MONTHS have past, the letters of complaint about the state of Barry written, but it's all just as grim as ever.

The Vale Council is still as much use as a chocolate teapot and the mad road painters have been at it again, daft crazy hatchings and bright green bus stop patches all down Buttrills Road, what next? A winged serpent or a cherub perhaps. I'm sure there will always be money from our rates for more useless projects.

But the act that has incensed me and other Island residents is the closing of the Clive Road steps, since Battery Hill was closed some years ago this has been the only short cut to town.

This root is being denied to us as I expect the council want to build yet another housing estate when the tanks have gone and they don't want us tramping through it. I therefore urge all people on Barry Island to stop paying their rates until the route is reopened.
