A DISABLED Barry girl struggling with Brittle Bone Disease is on top of the world after receiving a very special present.
Farrah Moseley, 7, of Tordoff Way is the proud owner of new tricycle thanks to the efforts of both her school and The Three Bells Inn.
The Palmerston pupil, who was diagnosed with the crippling disorder when she was 17-months-old, is now able to ride around to her heart's content.
Proud mum Nicola, 32, said: "Farrah has had seven major operations in her short life. The biggest was last year when rods were taken out of her legs and replaced with telescopic ones which grow with her."
"After the operation, Farrah needed a special tricycle to build her muscles. But she could only use the one in her school while she was on the premises."
Money was being raised by the school to buy one but they were £152 short of the total so Nicola decided to help things along.
She said: "I heard the Three Bells help out with local cases so I wrote to Brian Kirke for help. He wrote back saying he'd do what he could. The next thing I know he's phoned the school asking who to make the cheque payable to. Considering he'd never met us, it was so good of him."
The tricycle came to Farrah in the middle of the school holidays and it gave her the chance to enjoy life like her big sister Taliah.
Nicola added: "Farrah has broken her legs too many times to keep count. She's bubbly and young and doesn't see danger. It breaks her heart not to be able to play with Talia."
But she's having a new drug which build up her legs. The calcium-based treatment is given over two years. Every three months Farrah has to go to hospital for three days, and endure six hours of the drugs as they are fed into her intravenously.
Her mum said: "The new drugs and this tricycle are helping her get stronger. I can't say how grateful I am to the Three Bells from giving my little firework this chance."
