Church split us up

FIVE years ago, I joined a church in Barry and quite happily joined in with church life.

I was accepted as one of the family, but towards the end of last year several members, including the pastor, told me to leave my partner, who had not become a Christian, because they no longer deemed it acceptable that we were not married.

As a result of this advice, I made the heartbreaking decision to leave with my seven-year-old son.

My life fell apart, and as a result my son is now forced to live in poverty, relying on welfare, while I have become homeless.

This is not an attack on Christianity by any means, but rather raises the issue, in these modern times: what is the church doing, promoting the break-up of families? Is this what Jesus would want, knowing the devastation caused to children by the loss of a parent?
