A BARRY holiday shop is throwing a monster of an event to raise cash for their chosen charity.

Lunn Poly, in Holton Road, are holding a Hallowe'en Ball at the Mount Sorrell Hotel on Saturday October 26, in aid of Whizz-kidz, a charity which helps support non-mobile children.

Manageress Madeline Rendall told the News: "Last year, this branch raised just over £400. But the firm as a whole smashed our £100,000 target, raising £170,000. So we are hoping for yet another a fantastic response."

After their phenomenal success of 2001, the company has upped the challenge, taking their target to a mammoth £200,000.

Clare Williams has been just one of the staff involved in organising everything for the party.

She said: "Every member of staff has been involved in some way and it promises to be a great night. We've got fun and games planned, and some excellent prizes for a raffle and auction."

Three of the best prizes that have been donated for the ball will be sold off to the highest bidder and the rest will be put into the raffle.

Clare added: "There will be competitions and prizes for all types of things, including one for the best fancy dress. Even though the dressing up is optional, we want to encourage people to make an effort."

Tickets for the party cost just £7, which will include a dinner of bangers and mash. £3 from each ticket will go straight to the charity, as will every penny made from the raffle and the money-making games planned on the night.

Madeline added: "We want people to come along, dig deep and have a great time.

"This is a charity that provides children who have disabilities with mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, tricycles and walking aids, giving them the independence and freedom to enjoy life to the full."
