The Last Castle

ROBERT Redford, who won an Oscar for his role in Spy Game, stars in this engrossing tale set in a high-security armed forces prison.

General Eugene Irwin (Redford) is a well-respected army general who makes one grave error of judgement that kills eight soldiers under his command.

Under court martial, he pleads guilty and is sent to 'The Castle' for a ten-year sentence.

When inmates start dying in freak accidents, Irwin realises there is corruption rotting the whole system.

Taking on the role as military leader one last time, he unifies the incarcerated soldiers to take over the prison.

The film is highly patriotic and in light of the September 11 tragedy, it is the type of material designed to rally viewers, American and British alike.

Irwin looks every part the battle-worn hero as he alienates authority and wins respect from his fellow prisoners.

It's easy to see why The Last Castle won rave reviews from magazines like Total Film. It's an great movie with an excellent mix of action and a well thought through plot.
