Admonish

THE PHILOSOPHY of the Welsh Knot appears to be making a reappearance in a new and bizarre form.

Apparently a dozen or so youngsters at a Welsh medium primary in Barry have been appointed as 'gwelers.' Their task is to take up preordained positions at break times, and seek out their schoolmates speaking English, and admonish them with the words "speak Welsh."

If the crime is repeated, they then denounce their chums to the teachers. I wonder if repeat offenders will be made to wear an English Knot around the neck until home time when they will face the wrath of their parents?

Perhaps I, as a monoglot Welshman, should wear a cross of St George stitched to my outer clothing as I walk the streets of Barry as a warning to others that I cannot speak the 'language of heaven?'
