No change

IN effect, I left Barry in 1950 when I went to University, but my mother, now 97, lived there until 1996 (my father died in 1991), so I have always kept in touch with things Barrian.

She still receives regular batches of your newspaper from friends so we have only just read about the nonsensical proposal to rename the Memorial Hall the Memo; that is short for memorandum not memorial. My mother's brother was killed at sea in 1941 and the hall is his memorial too.

Gareth Howe (letters Barry & District News, July 25) is quite right in his demand that the council should intervene and prevent this change. I strongly endorse everything he said in his letter.
