No action

WHO is actually in charge of the council's policy regarding upgrading and renovation of the town's buildings? Is it the councillors, council officials or some other body, such as Barry Action.

The only signs of action from this body is the spending of money on flags hanging from posts around the Vale, the 'tourist attraction' in Kendrick Road and the unusable car park at Hood Road.

A good indication of the council's attitude to the town's council taxpayers is the clock on King Square. It has been showing the time 7.20pm for the last three weeks and nothing has been done to put it right. I am sure that if this happened in any other town in the area, it would soon be running again. It is typical of the council's couldn't care less attitude to the voters of Barry, a 'run down clock' for a 'run down town.'

What are the councillors who were elected to serve the voters of the town doing? By their actions, nothing. They seem quite content to draw their expenses and allowances and not rock the gravy boat by asking questions.

A few weeks ago I read that the council was proposing to spend over £1,000,000 in purchasing the Dock offices. Why don't they get their act together and use the money that they seem able to find for such proposals and spend it on renovating the town hall and King Square. What has happened to the last report on the viability of this project, has it gone the way of many other reports, which usually when received are either shelved or ignored.

I am sure that the renovation and reopening of the town hall as offices would breathe new life into Holton Road and the town's centre and with a bit of luck we might even see the town hall clock working again.
