A FRUSTRATED Barry councillor has lashed out at flytippers who constantly dump refuse in his ward.
Labour man Neil Moore, who represents Cadoc, says he is fed up with the continual debris that is thrown into Coldbrook stream.
Speaking after yet another mound of litter was found floating in the water, he described himself as 'totally frustrated and exasperated by the whole situation."
Cllr Moore told the News: "I am absolutely astounded that once again the stream has been filled with rubbish."
He acknowledged the efforts of the Vale of Glamorgan Council who clear the waterway at the rear of David Street and Eastbourne Road as soon as a flytipping problem is reported.
But he said he is amazed that everytime the area is cleared, rubbish seems to be dumped just days later.
"So far this year I have had two three-piece suites removed, countless carpets and at least two mattresses, apart from the trolleys and general rubbish dumped in the area," he said.
Cllr Moore is working closely local Shakespeare Residents Association to try to resolve the issue.
He said: "We constantly visit the site and between us we try to keep the stream and lane by David Street clean.
"But it is an endless battle."
Cllr Moore stressed the need for vigilance.
"I hope that all the residents of the area will keep a look-out and help by reporting anyone who dumps rubbish here," he said.
He also called on the Vale of Glamorgan Council to play their part in keeping the area clean asking for the whole stream to be cleared immediately, regular litter collections and a rethink of the rules that force homeowners to pay for rubbish removal by the local authority.
A Vale of Glamorgan Council spokesman told the News that it is aware of the problem.
He said: "In conjunction with Environmental Campaigns, we are looking at a number of ways of combating this type of anti-social behaviour.
"Anyone witnessing illegal dumping is urged to contact us immediately on 029 20673000."
