Spot on!

I WISH to follow on from a letter that appeared recently concerning fining dog owners for not 'picking up' after their pets. I would echo the sentiments about horses.

As a dog walker in Porthkerry Park, I feel that the large amounts of litter left by visitors is a much more serious problem. (Monday mornings are particularly bad).

The Vale staff and the ranger service do a valiant job in litter picking, but is this the most cost effective use of the rangers?

I have suggested to the council that more bins might act as an incentive, but Steve Latham replied that 'no amount of litter bins would serve these members of the public'.

This sounds like a defeatist attiude to me and an acceptance of the situation.

There is one small bin in the main area of the park and none around the 'overflow' car park.

Surely if we do not try then an improvement cannot be achieved, before the park is permanently damaged.
