FOR the eighth successive year, the Vale of Glamorgan Council sports development unit, Llantwit Major Town Council and the town's bowls club have teamed up to organise a local primary schools' tournament.
Involving more than 100 children, the event, which was won by Eagleswell, was the culmination of a three week coaching programme, which also involved St Illtyd's and Llanilltud Fawr schools.
Eagleswell received the Llantwit Major Primary School Shield from South Wales junior co-ordinator Neville Young, who said: "The Llantwit club has now established a thriving junior section and all the club coaches should be very proud of their achievements.
"The club has entered the new Vale junior league and the provision for junior bowls has never been better."
Anyone requiring further information about the initiative should contact the Vale sports development unit on 01446 704614.
