I KEEP in mind that the 'Sue's View' to the recent controversy over the shock name change of the Barry Memorial Hall (prompted by my letter) was Sue's thoughts only.

And that we are I respect, all allowed an opinion of our own in the great and free country that we live in, I was very sad to see that in our younger generations' eyes we should accept that change in the name of progress.

If all the visionary ideals of our Barry forefathers are to be treated in this modern fashion then our town will end up with no visible reminders of our historical past.

I know Ms Long has left the official name on all marketing material. But, to our older citizens and day visitors these objectionable boards are what will be seen when they visit our grand hall.

After all we all affectionately know our excellent publication as "the local rag" but old fashioned as we older generation may be but we, were all taught in both school and at home the word respect (something often forgotten in these modern times).

But I still ask for the support of the people of Barry to help change this signage, and to the elected councillors of Barry to be big enough to admit that a mistake was made. After all, does any one remember seeing a planning application being posted for the electorate to see and discuss?
