A BARRY schoolgirl who put out a call for her community to support a young boy with cancer is gearing up to do it all over again.
Bryher Davies of Llys-y-Coed rallied around for two months to organise a rock concert for three-year-old Jamie Adamson.
Jamie was diagnosed with acute leukaemia and has already undergone treatment and surgery to stop the disease.
Bryher babysits for Jamie and wanted to show her concern by raising money for the children's charity LATCH.
In a short time, the 16-year-old had a venue, six bands and raffle prizes booked ready for the big night on Friday July 5.
She said: "It was a good night. About 150 people turned up and quite a few were in fancy dress. It all went without a hitch. Jamie introduced each band. He stayed nearly until the end, but went home before the last two groups performed.
"We raised £500 from tickets and raffles, plus I had official LATCH collection boxes on the front tables during the night. I can't open those myself, but I did see lots of people putting £5 and £10 notes in them.
"I don't know what the final amount will be but I'm already quite pleased."
Despite just finishing her GCSEs at St Cyres in Penarth and organising the concert, Bryher is looking to start all over again.
She added: "I've already spoken to the people in the Savoy and they're willing to do something similar. And lots of people already got there, so it should be quite successful."
Bryher doesn't know exactly when it will be, but she's hoping to get it off the ground in time for the August Bank Holiday and make an all-day event.
She said: "I was pleasantly surprised that it all went so smoothly.
"I had some help from my mum Ceri and boyfriend Andrew Field-Davies organising it, but I was still pleased it went so well."
