Vale Leisure Centre staff top of the class

TWO VALE Leisure employees, who are undertaking the Institute of Sports and Recereation Management Certificate, have gained top assignment marks.

Darren Phillips and Zoe Kerslake, assistant managers at the Colcot and Barry leisure centres respectively, are studying for the nationally recognised sports management qualification at Barry College, and course tutor Peter Gamble said: "This course attracts interest from all over South Wales and I'm delighted two local students have received these prestigious assignment awards and been recognised for all their hard work and effort."

Zoe, who is in her first year of study for the ISRM qualification, received top assignment mark in Module 1, and Darren, in his second year, achieved similar success in Module 4 and the overall top assignment mark.

The Vale Council's Cabinet Member (Economic Development and Leisure), Cllr Mike Harvey, said: "The Council takes training very seriously and I'm thrilled to see both Darren and Zoe perform so well in this esteemed course."
