SULLY Boy Shaun Bryant's dream of hitting the big time has moved a little bit closer.
The Penarth Player's hopes of becoming a professional actor moved a little closer to reality when he was recently awarded a scholarship from over 2,000 applicants to the Rose Bruford Academy, a leading London Drama College.
Player press officer Phil Rapier is very grateful to Shaun, who despite being busy with his A level drama exams, is playing an important role in their Murder Mystery Evening which takes place as part of the Penarth Holiday Festival Celebrations at the Paget Rooms on July 18, at 8pm.
This year the Players are doing something really special and providing the audience with a truly memorable sense of occasion by staging what we expect to be the largest Murder Mystery Evening ever held in Wales.
We are so fortunate as a society to have local author Roger Pinkham as our 'writer in residence' who has crafted the most brilliant plot to challenge the detection skills of the sleuths of Penarth as well as those of the somewhat hapless "copper in the cast."
The actors have found it a new and creatively challenging experience having the author present at rehearsals, this has allowed them to use their considerable skill and experience to explore the more subtle aspects of the plot and those all important "clues."
"A Murder Mystery Evening provides the magic of live theatre at its absolute best," says Phil. "It's so exciting for the cast too, having the audience as an integral part of the drama and who knows perhaps the legendary shy Phantom of the Paget Rooms might at last reveal their identity as well."
Roger is not giving anything away at all but if you would like to find out for yourself come along and help us find "whodunnit" and maybe win the prize for being the "top sleuth." Tickets are available from Windsor Books at £5 each and include a light supper and a glass of wine.
