Dad is found dead

A YOUNG Barry dad found dead in a flat in Main Street has been named as Andrew Cambridge.

The 25 year old was found at his home at around 3am on Tuesday morning. Despite the efforts of an ambulance crew, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem examination has proved inconclusive and police are now awaiting the results of toxicology tests.

Officers have revealed they believe the death is drug-related.

Five people - two men aged 43 and 44 and three women, two aged 17 and one 29 - who were at the flat with Mr Cambridge are in custody at Barry police station.

Yesterday, his front doorstep was covered in flowers from relatives and friends, including one bouquet from his daughters Stacey and Alethea.

In a poignant message attached to the bouquet of white lilies, they wrote: "To Daddy. I loves you. Stacey and Alethea."

The lane next to the flat, which is above a shop, has been sealed off by police tape while the area is combed. The search has already taken officers as far as Cadoxton School in Victoria Road. Police have kept vigil at the site since the discovery of Mr Cambridge's body.

One local resident said: "I think Andrew came from Coldbrook where his mum, dad and sister still live. I believe he got divorced recently."

One man who lives close to the scene said: "I didn't hear a thing all night, but there are people in and out of the flats all the time.

"The police were here by the time I got up and I think the forensics who were here have been going through the flats."

A woman, who lives in the neighbouring Harvey Street, added: "I've got friends in this road and it scares me to death to think it's happening so close to home. This isn't an estate or a big city. It's just a normal street. I think it's horrendous."
