Worker in court on rape charge

A POWER station worker has appeared before Barry magistrates charged with the attempted rape of a local woman at the Cold Knap.

Gregory Marcus Boulton, aged 31, of Elliott Town, New Tredegar, appeared at court following an alleged late-night incident at the Lake Gardens on Friday, June 14, after both travelled by train from Cardiff Central to Barry.

Boulton, who works at Aberthaw Power Station, was given conditional bail to appear at Cardiff Crown Court on July 9.

His legal aid was extended to cover the court proceedings.

Chairman of the bench Hywel Thomas told Boulton that he must abide by a number of bail conditions.

Boulton must continue living at his address in Elliott Town until July 1, after which he must move to the Four Seasons, in Hythe, Southampton. He must not enter Barry other than to see his solicitor, Colin Jones and must not enter Cardiff except to attend Cardiff Crown Court. Additionally, he must not contact the prosecution witness.

Finally, he must report to Blackwood Police Station on Saturday each week until July 1, after which he must attend Fawley police station, in Southampton.
