Angry, too

I HAVE followed with interest the reports of the anger of our Merchant Navy men over the snubbing of them and their contribution to the second world war in this Jubilee year. I share their anger.

I wrote to the Queen expressing my concern. I received a reply stating: "The Queen has asked the private secretary to thank Doreen Styman for her letter and to say that it has been passed to the secretary of state for the Department of Trade and Industry, so that this approach to Her Majesty may be known and consideration given to the people raised in the letter."

I have not received any further correspondence, but I will let you know, should any be received.
