Pool idea

HAVING spent many happy years at The Knap swimming pool, I agree with the sentiments of the majority of Barry people not to build luxury apartments on our pool.

Why not re-vamp the whole site, by reducing the swimming pool size and using the remainder for other water activities.

What about a high-rise restaurant overlooking the beach and channel, with a car park underneath. Perhaps a volleyball pitch or similar beach sport on one side of the pool and a children's play and sport area on the other. Of course the whole site would have to be covered for all year round use.

Surely this would be the only indoor water activity centre in South Wales, which is bound to be a tourist attraction. Let's take advantage of Dow Cornings' wonderful offer of support, and perhaps the WDA, which will make the Knap swimming pool something to be proud of again.

So come on the Vale, and whoever is in charge of tourism and planning, let's have some input and support from you; and start supporting tourism and leisure.

Please listen to the electorate and do something other than build luxury apartments on the Knap swimming pool.
