IN response to your Merchant Navy story, we have asked John Smith to take up the case for all the Merchant Seamen to receive a medal for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

As you are aware, these people served this country to the same extent as the Armed Forces and, without them, this country would have probably lost World War II.

Barry lost more seamen per population than any other town in Britain.
