BARRY residents are the pride of Britain after organising a fantastic host of parties to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
From tiny tots to OAPs, many took advantage of the excuse for four days of partying right across the town and beyond.
Nigel Parkes helped organise a successful street party at Minster Close on Monday, attended by 40 adults and 20 children.
He said: "It went absolutely wonderfully. Although the weather didn't help things, everything pulled through. We made sure the rain didn't spoil it.
"The kids had a really enjoyable time with games, which the adults joined in with. We also had karaoke and many other different games."
He added: "Without a shadow of a doubt, the children will remember this day for a long time. In fact, when we were taking down the bunting on Tuesday, every child was asking when the next party would be. It was definitely a time to be remembered."
Tracey Prince, of Sherbourne Close, also helped throw a street party on Monday. She said: "Our party was brilliant. All the children really enjoyed playing games, while the adults took part in all the races.
"The kids sat down to eat at about 4.30pm and carried on enjoying themselves until 9pm when they went home. Then the adults carried on until 11pm."
She added: "Although it was raining in the morning, that really didn't dampen the spirits at all. We've given the children a day to remember."
As well as residential street parties, pupils at Romilly Infants, Barry Island Primary, Holton Road Primary and High Street Primary Schools also got involved in lots of fun and games.
A spokesman for Holton Road Primary said: "The children had a lot of fun. We had a Jubilee picnic and they all dressed up in red, white and blue. It was lovely."
