IN response to all letters supporting the revamping of the Knap pool, and recommendations that the offer of a grant from Dow Corning be accepted, may I remind the people of Barry, this is only a grant towards refurbishment, not for general maintenance.
The maintenance money will, in all probability, have to come out of the pockets of Barry residents through an increase in the rates.
Also have Barry residents not realised how our summers are deteriorating. There are not many summer days when there is not a strong westerly wind blowing at the Knap.
The other problem if the Knap pool is restored is car parking. The older generation who remember the pool in its heyday walked everywhere. Not many people walk nowadays.
Why can't the lake gardens be restored to their former glory and be extended right through to the pool area. As other people have suggested, we could have a wonderful wildlife area, with low cost and low maintenance plants.
