MOST mornings over the last few months whilst walking through the Town, I have taken note of the work taking place on the new council car park in Holton Road.
If the time taken to build it is any indication of the time required for the renovation of the Library, Town Hall and the Square, I estimate that I and a lot of council taxpayers of my generation will never see any of them reopened.
Where did they get the idea for the "Eastern" look of the capstones on the pillars around the car park? Were they inspired by the domes of the Kremlin, because of its nearness to the civic offices or was it by the story of "Ali Baba?"
