Appalling

I COULD not agree more with all the letters in last week's paper concerning the Knap pool and the general appalling state of important areas in Barry. The views confirm my own thoughts that Barry is cursed with a bunch of inept councillors.

Another land deal agreed by this council at Merthyr Dyfan will be the forerunner to yet another housing estate - are they determined to turn Barry into a giant housing estate?

Green fields off Pontypridd Road, Pencoedtre and Coldbrook Road East have disappeared under a mass of concrete and bricks over the last few years.

Just think of the enormous extra revenue the Vale Council receives in council tax from all these extra dwellings - and yet they still plead poverty.

I've a good idea to bring visitors to Barry: let's put our councillors in stocks (medieval style) on King Square, facing the dilapidated Town Hall and we could all throw rotten fruit at them, say 50p a shot: should pack 'em in! Oh, I'd let the victims wear their yellow hard hats that they're so proud of being photographed in.
