Old friend

I WOULD appreciate any information readers can give me in trying to locate a special English friend I met in April 1943 in New York City during my service years of WWII.

His name was John Miller. I believe he lived in Barry. He had a brother and sister.

I'm not sure what branch of service John was a member of, but I believe it was the Royal Marines. His brother drove a taxi.

In June of 1943, I was a member of the crew of the SS Gateway City, a freighter that happened by chance to dock in Cardiff and, upon disembarking from the ship, I asked the station master if he knew where the Miller family lived.

He was most kind and told me that John's brother would be pulling in any moment.

He did, and I was taken to his mother's home to meet his sister and mother.

I was treated to dinner and had a wonderful time. I wrote to John several times and would hope I could write to either John or some of the family. God bless you all.
