AFTER reading the two letters concerning Barry Cemetery, I decided to tell you of an awful experience we had.
A loving husband and father died, and is buried at Barry Cemetery.
When the grave had settled down, my daughter and I decided to have a headstone. This was done, and we felt pleased with it. Some weeks later, we went up to the cemetery with some flowers. Can you imagine our horror to find the stone had been ripped out and left face down in the mud?
We arranged for the stone mason to fix it up again.
Some months later, it would have been my husband's birthday, so we bought some lovely roses to put on the grave, only to find the stone had been ripped out again and thrown face down at the foot of the grave. My daughter and I just stood and cried.
Of course we had it fixed up again.
Later, I was told these rotten vandals caused all the damage in the cemetery. I cannot understand the mentality of these people, going into a cemetery and smashing up graves.
They little care about the heartache they cause Perhaps one day we shall read in your newspaper that the birch has been brought back.
