BARRY'S talented warblers were put through their paces last night when Red Dragon Radio called into town.
The Dolphin Bar at Barry Island was a hotbed of activity as vocal chords were warmed up for South Wales's newest search for a star.
The competition, Reach For The Stars, has been sweeping the Principality, with the promise of fame and fortune for the ultimate winner.
The performances kicked off at 7pm and contestants were seen on a first come, first served basis.
Each one had to sing a verse and a chorus from a song of their choice while the judges took notes. Then the judges had to make a quick decision, where just five entries were chosen to perform again to pick a winner.
Only this time they were totally unprepared, choosing from a list of songs.
The winner of this heat is guaranteed a place in the live grand final in the Red Dragon FM Jubilee street party in Cardiff Bay on Monday, June 3.
After performing at the Jubilee event in front of a crowd exceeding six thousand people, the one lucky singer who wins will have taken the first step on the road to stardom.
The prize includes studio time to record a song, and a luxury Mediterranean cruise to relax after all the hard work.
Marketing manager for Red Dragon FM, Eirwen Parker, said this was a chance for all those who think they have got what it takes.
She said: "We've had an unbelievable response. The success of recent television shows has proved there's a bit of a star in all of us. It's really exciting to think we might be able to help one special person's dreams come true."
