'My daughter is a star nanny'

A FORMER Barry College student's mum has spoken out after her daughter landed a glittering new job.

Judy Cole, 42, has been given the task of caring for Dylan Michael Douglas - son of Hollywood A-listers Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones.

But in the two weeks since her appointment, Penarth-born Judy has faced a tidal wave of national tabloid publicity, a lot of which is exaggerated and incorrect she says.

Now Judy's mother, Vale resident Joan Cole, has spoken EXCLUSIVELY to the Barry and District News to 'put the record straight.'

She said: "Judy was actually born and bred in Penarth and proud of it.

"She was born at our house in Cedar Way. Her connection with Barry was going to college for one year when she was younger."

The nanny, who lists the Gucci family and movie star Kathleen Turner as previous employers, went to Victoria Primary School and Stanwell Road Grammar School.

Then, at 16, as reported in last week's News, Judy attended Barry College for a year to do a Preparation for Nursing course.

Her mum, 72, said: "She said she wanted to travel the world and work with children. She's always loved children."

Now after 22 years of nannying Judy has got the job most could only dream of. Joan said: "I'm a very proud mum, she's gone a long way on her own merits.

"She's worked hard to get where she is. Judy is very good with children and is a playmate to them.

"She's worked for some very high profile people. Her references read like a fairy story." Judy is currently looking after Dylan at the couple's pad in Bermuda and Joan says she is very happy.

She can look forward to travelling to the stars' homes in California, New York and Bermuda in the future.
