Zeta hires a Barry nanny

BARRY College is buzzing this week after news that an ex-student has landed a glittering new role.

Local girl Judy Cole, formerly of Cedar Way, has been given the task of caring for young Dylan Michael Douglas - son of celebrity couple Catherine and Michael.

Ms Cole, who learned her trade in Barry, will look after the baby boy whilst his parents live the glamorous Hollywood lifestyle.

Her new role will take her luxurious surroundings in California, New York, Bermuda and Majorca, when she accompanies Dylan and his parents to film shoots and their several homes.

She will also be crucial in providing the Welsh upbringing that Catherine wants for her 20-month old son.

It is rumoured that Ms Cole will earn £70,00 a year for her nannying skills which started on a Preparation for Nursing at the award-winning Barry College of Further Education.

It was a one-year introductory course which was designed for young people wanting to make a career in the caring and health industry. Now the college is toasting her success. Staff described themselves as "ecstatic" that a former Barry-born student has landed such a high profile role.

Head of department for Caring and Health Studies Myra Thomas told the News: "We are delighted that Judy has done so well since studying at Barry College. She will be a great role model for our current students and for future students wishing to study a childcare course."

Old records show Judy went to the college after attending Stanwell School in Penarth. She took the year to complete her course, which would have given her the credentials she needed to break into childcare. Her best subjects were social biology, where was described as being of a "high standard", and English, which she "worked hard" at.

Since gaining her qualification in 1976, Judy has been employed by various high-profile families to look after their children.
