Take pride

IN REPLY to the letter from Barry Shaw, the spokesman for Plaid Cymru, I would like to point out that, as ward councillors for the Castleland area, Cllr Graham Niblett and myself have worked tirelessly for the voters to solve the problems of litter and fly-tipping, as well as a number of dumped and burned-out cars.

We agree that people should take pride in the area in which they live, and if they see rubbish being dumped, telephone the special hotline at the Civic Offices.

This can be done anonymously without fear of recriminations.

We also welcome the recent initiative with the open day at the leisure centre and the opportunity it gave local residents to air their views, but at this early stage we can give no promises of what may be available in the way of funding.
