Tumble on

I HAVE seen the advertisements in your paper for the Chinese State Circus to be held in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

As a long-standing supporter of animal welfare, I appreciate the dedication of such entertainers, who do not need to exploit feeling beasts to abject humiliation for the titillation of a paying public.

I for one will be going along to see this show, which promises to be absolutely spectacular.

Not only does it show recognition of the dedication and hard-work of these talented human beings, but it makes sure they get the financial support they need to keep going.

I don't flatter myself that I can influence a 2,500 year old tradition by my own meagre efforts, but at least I can do my part. I hope others feel the same, and go along to show their endorsement of such incredible talents. It will not be an act of charity.

From what I have seen on TV and in other media, this show will be breath-taking. I think we should be honoured they have come to entertain us here in Cardiff.

With this kind of event, we can prove we are the cultural capital of Britain.
