Daniel and Mark are revving up to success

AT PEMBREY last weekend the track was set alight by the performance of the Dienza Performance Junior Team.

Fourteen-year-old Daniel Cooper, of Brinscombe, Stroud, and Mark Edwards, aged 41, (Welsh 250cc Champion for 1986), from Llantwit Major, now Daniel's coach and mentor, put on a performance not to be missed.

Daniel and Mark were looking to produce some great results in order to provide them with a firm foundation for achieving top spots at the end of the season, never dreaming that they would both put in such dazzling performances so early on.

Daniel took on the might of the 125cc top riders from 2001 and achieved an impressive 3rd and 2nd place on Saturday and two fantastic 2nd placings on Sunday with consistent lap times of 1min 04secs.

Quite an achievement when the lap record stands at 1:03:58 and was set towards the end of the previous season.

Mark took on the challenge of the Sound of Thunder on his Ducati 748RS notching up a 3rd and a win on Saturday, and a 2nd and a win on Sunday, with lap times of 1:03:25, which places him on top of the points, leading the championship for the start of the season.

Yet again another fantastic performance considering Mark's last race was more than 10 years ago.

Mark will now be looking to consolidate these results and develop Daniel's riding further with the help of "Enzo DiClemente" of Dienza Performance who this year are running a British Superbike and a World Supersport Team who believe Daniel can develop into a future star of the motorcycle racing world.
