EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of March 27, 1952: * The Barry Circle Players who have made a good impression with their lively comedy, "Little Lambs Eat Ivy," are to give repeat performances at the Old Pioneers' Hall, Beryl Road.

* Barry Cymmrodorion members concluded their winter session with their annual play production. This year they presented "Llygad y Geiniog," D J Thomas's translation of Louis Alton's play.

* A protest that the public should be informed of the time of commencement of the Council meetings was made at the TUC on Wednesday.

* Mr Raymond Gower, Barry's MP, asked in the House of Commons, on Tuesday, if the Prime Minister would recommend a period of National Prayer for the achievement of a true and just peace between all nations of the world and the solution of our economic problems.

* There was a full gathering of members of the Barry Yacht Club at the Clubhouse on Thursday evening to hear an interesting talk by Mr Lewis Alexander, a well known Bristol Channel pilot.

* The 15th annual dinner of the Barry Chamber of Trade and Commerce, which attracted a large gathering to Bindles on Wednesday week, was the occasion of some forthright speaking by the Mayor (Ald S Simmonds) on the deplorable attitude of the "powers that be" to the facilities offered by Barry and other South Wales ports.

EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of March 24, 1977: * A past chairman of South Glamorgan County Council, Mrs E Joy Davies, talked of her life and work with the council to the Barry No 3 Branch OAP on Monday week.

* An evening of songs was presented by Mr and Mrs Bobbett at Friday's meeting of St Nicholas Darby and Joan Club.

* Residents of Barry have won their fight to stop the transfer of some outpatients' clinics from the Amy Evans Hospital to Llandough.

* Because of the unprecedented number of new council houses presently available in the Vale of Glamorgan, families with as low as 20 points are being offered houses.

* As a result of their efforts over the past year, the Barry branch of Dr Barnardo's have sent a total of £1,200 to their charity headquarters in London.

* Among the latest officer to be commissioned in the Royal Air Force is Flying Officer Matthew Macleod (39) of St Michael's Close, St Athan.
