CD Review

ALANIS Morissette is back and this time it's with 'under rug swept', an 11-track strong album of grunge-fuelled delight.

It launches with 21 things I want in a lover, re-introducing us to her powerful voice. It is followed by Narcissus, a nice song which is pretty original, even if a bit monotone in parts.

Current big hit Hands Clean is up next, which has evocative lyrics like 'I might want to marry you one day, if you'd watch that weight and keep your firm body'.

Flinch is a lovely smooth song which is calming and restful, followed by So Unsexy, a nonchalant run-of-the-mil song.

You Owe Me Nothing in return is nothing special as it bobs along, while 'Surrender' is far stronger with Alanis displaying an almost haunting voice. The album ends with Utopia, which as you could expect from the name is gentle, serene and liquid-like.
