Fun Day proves a hit with the kids

Barry Town Football Club's young supporters had a real treat last weekend, when the Jenner Park stadium opened for a Family Football Fun Day.

The first 100 visitors to get there at 12 noon were given a free gift at the door before they went in for two hours of games and entertainment. There were replica shirts, club scarves, Coca Cola merchandise, including mini footballs, caps and t-shirts, Bridge FM badges and chocolate cream eggs for the first 100 arrivals.

With so many attractions on offer, there was something for everyone. From 12.10pm there was face painting and a free dragon bouncy castle before the big game between Barry Town and TNS in the fifth round of the Welsh Cup kicked off.

Barry Town's under-15's took on the TNS under-15's and the BTFC under-12's gave a wonderful display of football skills shortly after. At 2pm there was a marching band accompanied by BTFC mascot 'Barry the Dragon'.

Then as the tension mounted, the two teams ran onto the field for a 2.30pm kick off.

Half-time was a chance for the BTFC under-9's to show off their mini footballing skills in a display before the second half began the action again at 3.30pm.

After the game, the clubhouse was open to all to watch highlights of the match. The day rounded off with live football between Newcastle United and Arsenal.
