LLANTWIT Major is getting set to hold a massive celebration to honour the Queen's fifty golden years on the throne.
The Vale town looks like becoming a magnet for revellers looking for a knees-up in June, especially as no other town has announced any party plans.
Organisers Mike and Grace Williams of Nicholl Court are the main organisers behind the event. They have been cracking on with plans for the festivities since last October, and are finally beginning to see the fruits of their labour.
Mike, 52, told the News: "We have a background in organising this kind of event. For ten years we put on the Llantwit Carnival. So we didn't give a second thought to how we would manage this type of event, and it's just snowballed."
Starting on June 1, the party will rock on until June 4 with anyone who wants to join in with the actual Jubilee celebration on July 3 being welcomed.
There will a wide and varied schedule to enjoy. This includes a fairground, clowns, a hair and fashion show plus an open-air Jubilee Songs of Praise on June 3.
Busy Grace, 53, said: "If people are a bit worried there will be nowhere for them to go, we want them to know they can come here.
"The main event will be on the Recreation Ground in Llantwit, with many of the other activities held in the rugby club and pensioners club.
"Also, as our son is disabled, we have even had a technical advisor to make it wheelchair-friendly."
Mike added: "What we want to do is attract people who are looking for an event much like the RNLI celebrations last year. We are asking charities to give £10 per stall, crafts people £15 and businesses at least £15, plus any donations they would like to give.
"The Guide Dogs for the Blind have confirmed, as have Scope.
"Any profits will go into a fund to start the carnival season going again next year."
