PARK TABLE Tennis Club open the second half of the season in the Cardiff and District League with a second round of cup matches.
Park A have to travel to Pontypridd to play Division 1 opponents Duffies A. The Park team won easily when they met earlier in the season but the 'handicap' of being leaders in Division 1 is laying heavily on them and it should turn out to be a very close contest.
Park B have a tough handicap fixture away to Division 3 opponents St Martins B from Caerphilly, the Park will have to be at their best to secure a victory there.
Park D in their match away to Radyr is another Division 1 clash of the W G Clement Cup, with Radyr having the home advantage, this should be a close match.
Park E have a home fixture in the D G Fowles Cup against Division 5 opponents Heath D. The Park team, who play in Division 2 will be heavily handicapped in this match and will have to produce their best table tennis to win.
Park F face Division 4 opponents Fairwater F, and with experienced players in both teams, this should be an evenly matched contest.
Park H, with the youngest players in Division 5, have to travel to Pontypridd to play Division 1 opponents Duffies B. This match will be very hard for Park's youngsters but if the handicap is correct, it could be the win of the cup rounds.
All four Park teams are doing well in the First Division of the Cardiff and District League, and providing injuries and sickness are kept at bay, all the teams should be well placed, with the A side looking good for the title. The A team should be strengthened with the return of David Issacs and the continuing progress of 15-year-old Laura Hall.
Division 2 team Park E are also in contention at the moment for promotion to Division 1.
Park F, G and H are all in strong positions in their various divisions and hope they can continue this form in the second half.
Coaching and practice is available at Hebron Hall, Dinas Powys, Park's home venue on Monday nights. The sessions have been extended to 10pm with practice and coaching times at 7pm - 10pm.
The 'Golden Oldies' section, which was formed in January 1998 is still going strong and meet every Monday morning at Hebron Hall from 10.30am - 12.15pm. Any ex or current players are most welcome to join the club. It is a good way to keep fit and it's good company too.
