Winter Cricket Centres of Development

THE VALE of Glamorgan Sports Development Unit, the South Glamorgan Coaches' Association and local clubs have recently established Indoor Cricket Centres of Development during the autumn and winter months.

Run at Barry's Colcot Sports Centre, the Cowbridge Leisure Centre and the Indoor Cricket Centre at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, the centres aim to provide young people aged nine to 13 with a structured coaching programme which will incorporate developing batting, bowling and fielding skills.

The sessions are organised by qualified local club coaches who aim to develop the skills in time for the start of the new season.

The Vale's Cabinet Member (Economic Development and Leisure), Cllr Mike Harvey, said: "The aim of the centres is to allow young cricketers from across the Vale to develop their skills during the autumn and winter months and thus ensure they maximise their potential during the forthcoming summer season."

The Centres of Development will recommence in the New Year, and anyone requiring further information should contact Paul Nanji, Vale Sports Development Officer, on 01446 704614.
