Year ends in triumph for Welsh Academy of Martial Arts

THE STUDENTS who live in Barry, Llantwit Major, Rhoose and Penarth have achieved an extremely high level in martial arts during the year 2001 after competing both in the Welsh championships and World Championships among other prestigious tournaments, and several students won the National Student and Instructor Awards for 2001, within the United Kingdom and Europe.

The results of the tournament held on November 18, are as follows: Gold Medallists - Little Ninjas, age four/five years: Kyron Caddick (grandson of Lynne Tolcher-James), Katie Dunkley, Jake Dunkley.

Juniors - aged five-11 years: Kurtis Ellis, Luke Wagstaff, Sam Remnant, Jade Ellett, Ieuan Richmond, Declan O'Donovan, Ethan Puttick, Thomas Jones, Rhys McCarthy, Thomas Ashton, Tony Dell, Karl Richards, Riyad Auckbarally, Luke Hembury, Christopher Brown, Tomas Ellis, Rachel Davidson.

Seniors: Darren Edwards, Tara Bullock.

Black Belts: Nathan Davidson, Tristan Dunnet, Natasha Foscolo. Silver Medallists: Gareth Davies, Christopher Page, Christopher Davies, Jake Remnant, Lauren Allen, David Richards, Thomas Dell, Timothy Dell, Lewis Richmond.

Anyone wishing to take part please come along to the YMCA Court Road, Barry. A new class is starting in January for the Younger Ones (Little Ninjas) from three years of age.

Monday 5pm-6pm from four years. 6pm-7pm advanced. Tuesday: 1pm-2pm Little Ninjas 3-4 years. Wednesday: 6pm-7pm Little Ninjas. 7pm-8pm Advanced. Friday: 6pm-7pm Advanced Sparring/Bag/Pad work. 7pm-8pm Ladies Kickboxing visit our club website www.wama.2ya.com
